Pheu Thai wins most provincial elections

In yesterday’s Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) elections across 18 provinces, the Pheu Thai party secured the highest number of seats, while the previous winners from the last general election, the Move Forward party (now known as the People’s Party), faced a significant defeat, only winning in a single province.

The Bhumjaithai party secured second place by winning the PAO elections in twelve provinces, while independent candidates came in third, winning in six provinces.

Additional winners are the Democratic Party, which secured victories in four provinces, alongside Chart Thai Pattana and Prachachart, each winning two provinces. Meanwhile, Palang Pracharath, Thai Sang Chart, and the People’s Party each won in one province.

Yesterday, elections took place for PAO mayors and councilors in 47 provinces, while elections for PAO councilors occurred in the other 29 provinces. It’s important to note that Bangkok, as the capital, operates as a special administrative area governed by a metropolitan administration rather than a PAO.
