Five Thai Hostages Freed by Hamas Return to Thailand

Five Thai Hostages

Thailand, February 9, 2025 – Five Thai citizens, released from captivity by Hamas, landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport. They received a heartfelt welcome from their families, alongside Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and Israeli Ambassador Orna Sagiv.

Maris highlighted the government’s steadfast commitment to supporting Thai workers overseas, recognizing their release as a result of dedicated diplomatic efforts.

Although the five returnees are in good physical health, worries persist regarding their mental well-being after spending 15 months in captivity. One Thai hostage remains missing, and authorities are still negotiating for their release.

At the same time, efforts are being made to bring back the remains of the two Thai workers who have been confirmed dead. Since the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7th, 2023, a total of 46 Thai workers have lost their lives, 23 have been injured, and 28 are currently held captive.
